Today parents often find that they may want to move to another place especially
once their relationship has ended. There are lots of reasons people give for why
they want to move. It could be to be closer to family, a better job, a new relationship
has begun and the like.
But it is not so simple. Parents cannot just pack up and go when there is another
parent to consider.
These types of cases are called relocation cases. As with all parenting matters
if parents can reach an agreement between themselves it is the best. Failing that
parents may have to go to Court for help.
The Courts today seem to try to do all they can to make sure that a relationship
between the child and both parents is maintained.
If a parent has wind that their former partner is packing and leaving with the children,
they will need to act quickly. An injunction to stop them moving needs to be applied
for. If the parent has already moved with the children the other parent needs to
make an application to the Court to Order that they return. Quick and decisive action
needs to be taken.
